'Exiled Apprentice' is an RPG game built with Godot 4.3.

I did this project for learning purposes, so I implemented new systems that I never did before, among them are: quest system, dialog system, inventory and ability system, customization system with complex sprites. It was an interesting project, so I decided to share it here on Itch.IO.

--------------------------------

Plot:

In the kingdom of Gaentis, tensions between wizards and royalists were growing rapidly. Finally, the clash between them occurred - it was only a matter of time. After a brutal fight, some wizards were killed, while others were imprisoned and later executed. A new royal decree was announced: all magic in Gaentis is forbidden, and all wizards must surrender themselves for judgment. You, a young apprentice, decided to flee and found yourself among the villagers of Arudil, who now face a new danger.

--------------------------------

Features:

  • 1.5 hour long storyline
  • 6 different abilities - damaging and defensive, build your own playstyle by mixing those
  • A random dungeon generator - each time you go into the so-called 'Raids' the dungeon is being randomly generated, giving you unique experience.
  • Various mini-games during the storyline - from lockpicking to parleys and investigations.
  • Easter eggs!

For better experience I would recommend downloading a game. Feel free to share any feedback :)

Hello, I'm a RPG composer and I just played your game! Congratulations for attemping to do an action rpg game, it's a very challenging genre!

Here's my feedback:
- The sound panning is off, its mostly coming from my left speaker, it should be coming out equally from both sides.
- It's a good idea to loop several music during gameplay, but I'd say you should watch out for music that ends up breaking immersion, I noticed that some that played in there would be a better fit for a dark dungeon than a forest.
- There seems to be a UI bug when more than a window is openned. For instance as I was openning the skill level window + the ESC menu it crashed the game.
- Maybe remove the enemies screamming sound SFX and leave it for specially and key characters? It'd be less repetitive.
- Props for the day and night cycle, that was cool!

Hey! Thanks a lot of the feedback. Will try to correctly set up panning in future projects!

Oh, indeed - there is a UI bug that you mentioned, thanks for noticing, somehow didn't find it during the tests.

Are you still developing this one? If so I can play and scan for a deeper feedback. If not, are you working in a different project?

At this point the development of this one is 'On Hold'. I'm currently doing another project in a Unity. It's a simple casual game for mobiles. Sound-related work is not yet started though, but I think soon enough I will have to start it, as project rapidly comes to a clear finish.

Oh, in that case if you need music I have this FREE 2D Platformer Music Pack. Perhaps it may be useful,  it's 8 Bit / 16 Bit retro style. https://fictium-sound-design.itch.io/free-2d-platformer-pixel-music-pack

I'll be on the lookout for when you get back at developing your RPG game!
